Francesco Bellissimo

Career and activities as a culinary researcher, expert in Italian cuisine and entrepreneur (television, books, cultural exchange, international projects)

Profile

Francesco Bellissimo (Rome, 1979) is a chef, promoter of Italian gastronomic culture and entrepreneur who has been working between Italy and Japan for over twenty‑five years, where he currently lives and works. He is President of Billionaire Incorporated and founder of the culinary association “Italia Ryori Kenkyukai”, both dedicated to promoting authentic Italian cuisine and strategically enhancing the Made in Italy brand across Asia.

After studying at the Alessandro Caravillani Art High School, continuing with Philosophy at “La Sapienza” University of Rome, and completing voluntary service in the Italian Army at the Infantry School of Cesano, in 2001 he chose to move to Japan with a clear vision: to build a lasting cultural bridge between Italy and Japan through the universal language of food.

2001–2007 | The roots of the cultural bridge

Francesco Bellissimo early years in Japan

Arriving in Tokyo in the early 2000s, he began teaching Italian cuisine while studying Japanese language and culture. From the outset he developed a method that blends culinary technique, cultural storytelling and intercultural communication. For him, cuisine becomes a tool of cultural diplomacy and dialogue between Europe and Asia.

His courses, initially local, gradually spread nationwide, laying the foundations for a career that would make him one of the most recognizable Italian figures in the Japanese media landscape.

2008–2018 | Television, publishing and international consolidation

Francesco Bellissimo on Japanese television

Starting in 2008, his television presence grew significantly. He appeared on national and local cooking, news and entertainment programs, standing out for his direct, cultured and communicative style. At the same time, he published books, developed collaborations with brands in the food, fashion and lifestyle sectors, and strengthened his role as a contemporary ambassador of Italian gastronomic identity.

His work integrates culinary expertise, media communication and a strategic vision for the internationalization of the Made in Italy system.

2019–Present | Gastronomic culture, food diplomacy and innovation

Francesco Bellissimo international activities

In recent years he has further expanded his activities to international projects between Italy, Japan, Europe and Asia. He works as a cultural consultant, speaker and promoter of initiatives related to the enhancement of Italian gastronomic culture, export strategies and intercultural communication.

He has deepened historical research on Ancient Roman and Renaissance cuisine, collaborating with researcher Daniele Macuglia (Peking University) to reconstruct and present culinary traditions in universities and cultural institutions worldwide.

His vision combines tradition, innovation and cultural leadership: cuisine as an identity heritage, as a strategic lever for the internationalization of the Italian system, and as a concrete tool for dialogue between nations.
